Lake Powell is a year-round recreation destination. In summer, when much of the southwest is sweltering the average water temperatures are in the mid 70's while the air hovers about 10-20 degrees higher. Its the perfect range for alternating between sun bathing and swimming. A houseboat's slide is the built-in express route between the two activities.
Morning on the lake tends to be calm and clear, with some winds picking up in the afternoon. Its for this reason that we recommend you avoid moving your houseboat around when the water gets choppy, but the weather tends to not last for very long.
In the spring time the winds can be stronger, but its the best time to go fishing. Fall is when things calm down significantly, weather wise, but the temperature is still in a very comfortable range. Winter can be very cold, but Lake Powell is always open and only the most northern parts have a chance of freezing. Its another great time to go fishing and a heated houseboat makes quick work of the conditions.
To give you a general idea of what to expect take a look at these averages for the air and water temperatures.
